iPhones not being sold by ATT in NY (Updated Again)

According to reports and AT&T’s online store the iPhone is not available in New York. If you go to the AT&T mobile website and enter any New York zip code the iPhone does not appear.

We have called some NY Apple stores and they do state that they are selling them, so apparently this is an AT&T only thing.

While we await official word from an AT&T press representative, we did have a chat with an ATT sales rep who stated here has been some fraudulent activity with the iPhones in several places. So we do not have them here online.” When asked why are the iPhones available online for other locations eg, Florida, she just stated that they are not available in New York, but that ones may be found at NY AT&T stores.”

Update: We have just  been told the official statement from AT&T Media Relations, it is: “We periodically modify our promotions and distribution channels.”

We have asked whether AT&T stores in New York are selling them but we were told that they are not going beyond their comment, we will call some of them up in the morning to find out.

Update2: We have called a couple of the New York AT&T stores, they do appear to be selling them and are in stock of all colors and sizes, they would not answer our requests to find out if and when they would be getting another shipment.

Update3: The iPhones are available online once again, AT&T continues to stand by their original statement.

We will continue to update this story as we gain more info.
