We’re Covering Apple’s iPhone 4 Press Event… On Twitter!

In case you forgot, check out what we had to report about the gathering on Wednesday:
Apple sent out notifications to a select few in the media that the company’s holding a press conference this Friday, July 16th at 10AM Pacific (1PM Eastern).
Right now, we don’t have a lot of details… wait, scratch that– we only have one: the conference is related to the iPhone 4.
We, along with about 99.9% of the world, are expecting the gathering to focus on the iPhone 4?s “Death Grip” issue which causes cellular signal degradation each time you apply pressure to the bottom left portion of the phone (where the antenna is located).
Sh** sort of hit the fan earlier this week when Consumer Reports, the extremely reputable consumer guide to practically everything, decided to revoke its recommendation because of the antenna flaw. Since then, negative press has been getting somewhat out of hand.
CNET reported today that a total recall could cost Apple over $1.5 billion– at this point, I just don’t see that happening. My guess is that the company will explain the issue and then offer free bumpers. What do you think Apple will do?
As details emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
Oh, and if you’re wondering why everybody is still so hyped up about the iPhone 4 despite this glaring design flaw, check out our comprehensive iPhone 4 review here.
