It’s finally here! The Motorola Droid, Verizon Wireless’s flagship Android device, got the highly vaunted Android 2.1 update. Well, some phones at least. At noon today (March 30th), 1,000 people received a notification urging “the lucky ones” to download the update; it seems 9,000 more people will receive the notification by midnight tonight.

SCEA’s Senior Director Corporate Communications & Social Media, Patrick Seybold, announced that on April 1st, the same day the 3.21 firmware update will be released for the older & fatter PS3s, any operating system other than the de-facto Sony OS will be removed– this of course, includes Linux.
